TL;DR

I’m a writer, creator, and world traveler with an insatiable curiosity and profound connection to history.

Hi, I’m Rebecca.

An author, marketing executive, designer, and history buff who travels the world in search of truly special experiences.

I have a passion for helping people feel seen and heard. Having lived in and visited so many remarkable places, I’ve had the opportunity to meet some amazing people. It’s taught me that everyone has a pretty incredible story if only they have the opportunity and safe space to tell it.

That’s why I’ve recently written a new book, Quite Ready, that recounts my own journey from rural Tennessee to the glittering lights of the big city—and details all of the huge shifts in culture, mindset, and people dynamics along the way.

I currently split my time between Japan and the U.S. Whenever I’m not at my desk, I enjoy traveling with my husband and two cats, Potato and Goma. You can keep up with my travel adventures via Instagram and professional endeavors via LinkedIn.

Exploring the tension between hard-earned wisdom and forward-looking curiosity

Mission:

To use words, creativity, and exploration to make the world a clean, well-lighted place.

Personal Values

These weren't picked out of thin air. Each one has a deeply personal connection with who I am and how I strive to engage with others.

  • ※ Be known for candor, authenticity, transparency, and being apolitical

※ Admit mistakes freely and openly; don’t make excuses

※ Treat people with respect independent of their status or disagreement with you

※ Avoid situations where others have undue leverage over your best interests

※ Never take advantage of the vulnerable

  • ※ Do the right thing, even when it’s hard

    ※ Speak up

    ※ Run towards the fire

※ Don’t say things about other people that you wouldn’t say to their face

  • ※ Relentlessly seek out the facts

    ※ Consider the source

    ※ Listen more than speak

    ※ Hold strong opinions loosely

    Always make room for creativity

  • ※ Treat everyone with equal dignity, despite what they can or can’t do for you

    ※ Be grateful, always

※ Never wish ill upon oneself or others

    ※ Forgive without conditions

    ※ Give without expectation

  • ※ Be free of pride or arrogance

    ※ Assume positive intent

※ Seek what’s best for the whole instead of the self

※ Share information openly and freely

※ Situations define character, not circumstances of birth

Operating Principles:

  • Treat others how you’d want to be treated

  • Be Kind

  • Be Specific

  • Be Helpful
